In the weekend of february 2011we made our first walk along the Via Algarviana. A Camino which runs from Alcoutim in the east of Algarve to Cabo Sao Vicente. The two days walk began for us in Salir up to Alte. Stayed overnight in hotel Alte which is more or less 2 km from the little town of Alte, ( book this through booking.com, which saves you a lot of money) and from there along the camino to Messines. Must say that outside Alte the signs are very confusing where to go.
The walk from Salir to Alte is a beautiful nature walk and especialy in februari/march when the "amendoea" is florishing, beautiful.
